Quilts bestowed during Friday, Aug. 18, ceremony
COLFAX - The Colfax Quilts of Valor awarded four Veterans with handmade quilts Friday, Aug. 18.
The ceremony took place at 10:30 a.m., at Colfax Methodist Church, 109 S. Mill St.
Robert Segura, 79, was in the Marine Corps, said Colfax Quilts of Valor coordinator Diana King.
"He did guard duty and was a tank driver," King said.
Robert Hauser, 85, was in the Army and the 101 Airbourne, she said.
Barry Folsom Sr., 79, served in the U.S. Navy as a third-class petty officer.
"He was in charge of the barracks," King said.
Ron Harder, 78, was a U.S. Army captain who flew Huey helicopters, she said.
Harder was shot down in Vietnam.
King said the event was great.
"They all got up, spoke, and told a little about their time in the service," she said, noting that Folsom, Harder and Hauser all received Vietnam pins from the Department of Defense.
