Pullman and WSU police respond to Moscow standoff

Subject taken into custody after several hours

MOSCOW –– The Pullman Police Department and Washington State University (WSU) Police assisted the Moscow Police Department with a police stand-off event in Moscow on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Reports show officers received reports of gunshots in the area of the 100 Block of South Almon Street at 4:13 a.m. Tuesday.

Moscow Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area, according to reports.

Reports show multiple gunshots fired were confirmed, and officers in the area attempted to take the suspect into custody.

Road closures were in effect at A Street and Pullman Road at Line Street, A Street at C Street, North Main Street at D Street, Asbury and Almon at Sixth Street, and Third Street west of Main Street.

The public was advised to avoid the area, reports show.

According to reports, at 8:02 a.m., the Latah County Regional SWAT Team, Idaho State Police, City of Pullman Police Department, WSU Police, and Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the lone shooter barricaded inside his residence.

Pullman officers reported at 8:20 a.m., Tuesday, that the subject was taken into custody, and advisories had been lifted.
