PALOUSE - The City of Palouse is gearing up for another Palouse Days Friday, Sept. 15 through Sept. 16, with live music and fun-filled activities for the whole family.
The festival will kick off with a party, Friday, at 7 p.m. featuring live music from Blaine Andrew Ross at the Palouse Caboose Patio, 110 North Beach Street.
City Hall Deputy Clerk Jamie Gaber said Saturday's events start from 6 a.m. with the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast, which will end at 10 a.m. for a $5 donation, at the Lions Building near the RV Park, 490 West Main Street.
Palouse Days participants can purchase a rubber duck at the Pancake Breakfast to participate in the annual duck race at noon at the Palouse Caboose.
"Across the street, we have our Palouse Days Car Show," Gaber said, which will be at Hayton-Green City Park. "Saturday is just packed," she said.
The Palouse Days Kiddie and Grand Parade will happen on Main Street downtown beginning from the east side of Palouse, starting at 10 a.m.
Gaber said that the parade will have a lot of toys and feature Haunted Palouse. "We have all of our athletics doing stuff," she said.
"The kiddie parade is going to have costume contests," Gaber added.
From approximately 10:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., the Main Street promenade will feature an Egg Toss right after the parade, which Gaber said is sponsored by State Bank, which recently opened a branch in town.
The promenade will include vendors, community organizations, face painting, prizes, Sir Napoleon the Mini-Pony, Lucy the Goose Scavenger Hunt, a photo booth, and many kids' activities and games.
"We have really increased the kid's games, and we're going to have a scavenger hunt," Gaber said, adding that everyone should bring their kids to enjoy the day. "Lots of prizes this year," she said.
Gaber said there'd also be a quilt show at the Palouse Community Center, 220 East Main Street, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., adding that the Roy Chatters Newspaper and Printing Museum will be open displaying memorabilia and letterpress demonstrations.
The 2023 Heidi Keen Classic Barley Bar Relay will occur at 2 p.m. starting at the Palouse Caboose. Those who want to participate can sign up at http://www.runsignup.com/barleybar.
Saturday will finish with live music from local band The Cherry Sisters Revival at the Palouse Caboose Patio from 7-10 p.m.
Gaber encourages everyone to come and enjoy the days with family, "it's going to be a lot of fun," she said.
