WHITMAN COUNTY — All around Whitman County, the 1B volleyball teams start their season after football took all the glory of last week.
The St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse (SJEL) football team lost their first district game of the season last Thursday, Aug. 31, to Garfield-Palouse (GAR-PAL) 36-32.
SJEL will have a chance to event their record Thursday, Sept 7, as they host a non-district game against the Wilbur-Creston-Keller Wildcats in St. John. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.
After defeating SJEL last Thursday, Aug 31, the GAR-PAL Vikings have another away district game. This time, the Vikings will travel to Rosalia to take on Tekoa-Rosalia Friday, Sept 8 at 7 p.m.
For volleyball, The Colton Wildcats are hosting a home game Tuesday, Sept 12 to open their season. The game will begin at 6 p.m. The Wildcats also have an away game in Prescott, against the Prescott Tigers Wednesday, Sept 13 at 6 p.m.
There is no break for the Wildcats this week, as they then have an away game in St. John on Thursday, Sept 14, against SJEL at 6 p.m.
The GAR-PAL Vikings open their volleyball season on the road as they travel on Tuesday, Sept. 12, to Pomeroy to take on the Pirates at 6 p.m. On Thursday, Sept 14, the Vikings will have another away game in Reardan against the Screaming Eagles at 6:30 p.m.
The Oakesdale Nighthawks are hosting Rosalia Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, Sept 13, the Nighthawks are traveling to Pomeroy to take on the Pirates at 6 p.m.
For SJEL, they are competing in the Sun Dome Tournament in Yakima on Friday, Sept 8. The Eagles then are hosting the Wildcats on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 6 p.m.
For Tekoa-Rosalia, their season starts Thursday, Sept. 14, as they are traveling to Dayton to take on the Bulldogs at 6 p.m.
