Local cowgirls, cowboys face off against dirt bikers in show of Pure Horsepower

Final night of rodeo also features roping and barrels

COLFAX – The Saturday night, Sept. 9, performance of the Palouse Empire Rodeo featured local cowboys, cowgirls and dirt bike riders.

Thousands of fans crowded into the stands to see local competitors face off in the arena.

Here are the results:

Junior Barrels (12 and younger) – 1. Callahan Smith, 20.63 seconds; 2. Violet Smith, 20.64; 3. Logan Corder, 20.65; 4. Bo Broeckel, 21.43; and 5. Gracie Pfaff, 21.69.

Breakaway Roping – 1. Kayla Hurl, 2.08 seconds; 2. Ryan Mills, 2.22; 3. Paul Carpenter, 2.87; 4. Jacy Leach, 3.06; and 5. Sam Wilson, 3.72.

Open Barrels – 1. Tommy Jo Jensen, 18.54 seconds; 2. Haidyn Minik, 18.63; 3. Jacquelyn Reedy, 18.82; 4. Rowdie Broeckel, 18.902; and 5. Alvina Whetzel, 18.907.

Team Roping – 1. Trent Hennigar and Trace Hennigar, 5.97 seconds; 2. Jeff Engler and Flip Henderson, 9.25; and 3. Harley Hennigar and Andy Hennigar, 12.79.

Barrels-Bikes vs. Horses – 1. Violet Smith, horse, 18.07 seconds; 3. (tie) Carrie Lyle, horse, and Lola Hennigar, horse, 18.47; 4. Spencer Sholz, bike, 18.82; and 5. Buggy Startin, bike, 19.47.

Barrels –Bike vs. Bike – 1. Lance Heaton, 17.79 seconds; 2. Christopher Jones, 18.78; 3. Buggy Startin, 19.25; and 4. Riley Davis, 21.47.

Cal Stake-Bikes vs. Horses – 1. Spencer Scholz, bike, 9.03 seconds; 2. Chad Aeschliman, bike, 9.44; 3. Hudson Startin, horse, 9.47; 4. Grayson McNeilly, bike, 9.60; and 5. Wade Moser, bike, 9.75.
