COLTON — The Colton Wildcats had their first four games of the season, coming away with just one victory.

Their first game of the season was Tuesday, Sept. 12, a home game against the Dayton Bulldogs.

The Wildcats were dominant in the game, winning three-straight sets to sweep the Bulldogs. The most points allowed by the Wildcats in the game was the second set, when the Bulldogs scored 11 points.

In the game, Clair Moehrle led the way with 16 aces. She also had three assists and one kill. Holly Heitstuman had four aces and one kill in the game.

The next day, Wednesday, Sept. 13, the Wildcats traveled to Prescott to take on the Tigers. The game was a hard-fought, wire-to-wire victory for the Tigers, who won in five sets.

After losing the first set 20-25, the Wildcats took the next two sets, 25-18, 27-25. The fourth set saw the Tigers take it 26-24. Both the third and fourth set went over the 25 points required to win a set, a sign of back-and-forth volleyball between the two teams.

Both teams showed heart, but the Wildcats gassed out in the fifth and final set, losing 7-15 to the Tigers to record their first loss of the season, and give Prescott their first win of the season.

This game, Heitstuman had six aces, while Kaydee Heitstuman had five. Kyndra Stout led the way with 10 kills, and Mere Bell had nine blocks for the Wildcats.

Thursday, Sept. 14, the Wildcats had a match up against the St. John-Endicott-LaCrosse (SJEL) Eagles. The game was played in LaCrosse.

The Eagles jumped to a quick 25-5 first set victory, but the Wildcats fought back in the next two sets, however, they would lose both to the Eagles, 25-17, 25-15.

In this game, Kaydee had three aces, and Moehrle had two kills to lead the Wildcats. Bell had three blocks, and Stout led the way with four digs.

The last game of a busy week for Wildcat volleyball was Monday, Sept. 18, which was an away game against Asotin.

The Wildcats were bested by Asotin in four sets, with Colton winning the first set as their only set victory on the day.

The first set was a dominant effort from the Wildcats, who easily took the first set 25-16 over Asotin.

The Panthers would respond with two quick sets, winning the second set 25-18, and the third set 25-17 to jump ahead in the game.

The fourth set saw the Panthers defeat the Wildcats 25-18, taking their third set victory on the day, and defeating the Wildcats.
