Dugger Plowing Bee sees another successful year

COLFAX - The Dugger Plowing Bee saw a successful turn-out for its third year on Saturday, Sept. 30, on Banner Road, near the intersection of Banner and Pullman-Albion Road.

Event Coordinator and Iowa State University freshman Colby Dugger, 18, flew back from school to put the event on for another year.

"It went great," Dugger said, noting that though the weather wasn't looking the best the week before the event, they were thankful that the weather was better for them to get into the field.

Dugger said the event brought in approximately sixty to seventy people and had about 23 tractors less than last year. "We were just really glad to see people out there," he said.

Dugger said that they did get more done in the field than he expected, "that was awesome to see," adding that many people wanted to get into the field and get some plowing done.

The Duggers are already making plans for next year and discussing how they can make the event bigger and better.

Dugger said they are thankful to everyone who showed up despite the weather and rain, "glad for the lion's club to come out and serve food," he said.

Dugger's favorite tractor at the event was a Caterpillar RD Seven that Jerry Hennigar had brought, "probably my favorite to see," he said.

Dugger is currently set to major in Agricultural Engineering with a minor in Agricultural business at Iowa State University. His current favorite class is his Engineering 170 class, a modeling and design engineering class.
