ROSALIA –– The community celebrated Homecoming last week, with festivities highlighted by the crowning of class royalty.
The week included dress-up days for students, skit night, a wheat-truck parade, football, royalty and a semiformal dance.
This year's Rosalia royalty included Freshman Princess Abagale McGuire and escort Jayden Shirley, Sophomore Princess Taylynn Sperber and escort Dylan Terry, Junior Princess Kiyana Lowney and escort Zach Howard and Senior Homecoming Queen Alicia Razo and King Tristan Harrington.
The royalty was recognized during halftime of the Homecoming game Friday night, Oct. 13, against Pomeroy. The visiting Pirates topped the Timberwolves, 90-0.
But other activities included skit night on Wednesday.
Skit night was fairytale-themed, with short student renditions of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," "Rapunzel," "Hansel and Gretel," and "Sleeping Beauty."
In between performances, students Briley Smith and Thomas Place transitioned between reading of the fairytales and Whitman County Gazette faux coverage of Rosalia's Homecoming.
On Thursday night, some local students traveled to Tekoa to participate in the annual Homecoming bonfire celebrating the Timberwolves. That event also included a Tug-O-War contest.
The week wrapped up with a semi-formal dance Saturday night.
