TEKOA - Tekoa High School celebrated Homecoming last week by decorating halls, creating floats and hosting a bonfire.
The fun began Sunday, Oct. 8, when students showed up en masse to decorate their class halls for this year's Fairytales theme. From Monday through Friday, the students dressed up daily in a variety of themes.
On Thursday night, the community joined in the celebration with free hot dogs and Homecoming decorating competitions at the high school.
Those indoor activities were followed by a large outdoor gathering for the annual Homecoming bonfire, under the watchful eyes of local volunteer firefighters and school officials. A tug-o-war contest also took place, with girls beating boys.
On Friday night, the excitement moved to the football field in Rosalia, where the Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves faced off against Southeast 1B rival Pomeroy.
While the T'wolves lost the game, 90-0, the halftime celebration recognized each classes' royalty.
Devlin Latkowski escorted freshman Princess McKinley Chase and Michael George escorted sophomore Princess Ashlynne Moore. For the senior class, Julian Meredith escorted Princess Chloe Menga.
The junior class' Damian Weldy and Emma Fuchs were selected as the Homecoming King and Queen, and were crowned at halftime.
The festivities culminated Saturday night with a semi-formal Homecoming Dance in the high school gymnasium.
