1B Sports on the final regular season push

Teams ready for tail-end games of the season

OAKESDALE – With just over a week until districts for 1B volleyball, local Whitman County teams are heading into their final games of the regular season.

For the undefeated in district Oakesdale Nighthawks, they will play Thursday, Oct. 19, in a game against the Colton Wildcats. The game is set to be played in Colton, and will start at 6 p.m.

The Nighthawks will play their last regular season game Tuesday, Oct. 24, another away game. This time, they travel to Dayton to take on the Bulldogs at 6 p.m.

For the Wildcats, their last regular season game will be played Tuesday, Oct. 24, a home game against Prescott. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

The Garfield-Palouse (GAR-PAL) Vikings will play Dayton Thursday, Oct. 19, which will be played in Dayton. The game will start at 6 p.m.

The last regular season game for the Vikings will be an away game against Tekoa-Rosalia, which will be played Tuesday, Oct. 24, and start at 5 p.m.

Before the game against GAR-PAL, Tekoa will host the St. John Endicott-LaCrosse (SJEL) Eagles on Thursday, Oct. 19. The game will be played in Tekoa, and will start at 6 p.m.

The Eagles will take on the Pomeroy Pirates on Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Pomeroy. The game will start at 6 p.m.

The last game for the Eagles will be Thursday, Oct. 26, an away game against Waitsburg. The game will start at 6 p.m.

In football, the Eagles will take on Sunnyside Christian. The game will be played in Sunnyside, and will kick off at 7 p.m.

For GAR-PAL, they will play Friday, Oct. 20, against the 2-4 Waitsburg. The game will be played in Palouse, and will kick off at 7 p.m.

The Vikings are currently 5-2 on the season, by far the best record of any Whitman County football team.

The Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves are coming off a 90-0 embarrassing homecoming loss to the Pomeroy Pirates. They have a chance to make up for their game with an away game Friday, Oct. 20, against the 2-4 Dayton Bulldogs.

The game will be played in Dayton, and will kick off at 7 p.m.

For the Colton/Genesee football team, they will play Friday, Oct. 20, against Lapwai Jr/Sr high school. The game will be played in Genesee, and will kick off at 7 p.m.
