Eagles bested again by Nighthawks on home floor

Oakesdale wins all three played sets

ST. JOHN – The defending state champion Oakesdale Nighthawks swept the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles for the second time this season on Thursday, Oct. 12.

Set scores were 25-14, 25-21, 25-22.

The Nighthawks jumped out to a 15-6 lead in Set 1 before the Eagles called a timeout. Oakesdale then went on to lead 18-11, then went on to win 25-14.

In the second set, the Eagles were ahead 7-5 early. They then would lead all the way until the set was tied at 18.

After the tie, the Nighthawks took the lead and won the set 25-21.

In the third set, the teams were tied at 4, 9 and 14. The Eagles would lead 18-17, before Oakesdale took a timeout. The Nighthawks would fight back to tie the set at 22, before winning 3 points in a row, and the set, 25-22.

The Eagles were led by Kaitlyn Hough with three aces and nine kills. Setter Julia Guske had 21 aces, and Kenzie Stanley had 8 digs and 7 blocks.

For Oakesdale, Payton Davis had 26 kills and a team-high 15 digs. Setter Samantha Holling had 48 assists.
