SJEL Eagles play DeSales Irish during Homecoming

Irish overtake Eagles 80-6

ST. JOHN – The DeSales Irish routed St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse, 80-6, during the Eagles' Homecoming game Friday, Oct. 13.

The first touchdown from the Irish came three minutes into the game, with the Irish leading 6-0 early. The Irish would score another touchdown a few minutes later, to lead 14-0 after a successful conversion.

The final first-quarter touchdown for the Irish came on the ground; DeSales 22-0 lead after the first quarter.

Early in the second quarter, the Eagles scored on a pass to Tyler Hough, to close the gap to 22-6.

But the Irish answered, scoring two offensive touchdowns in the second quarter and picking off an Eagles pass for another TD to take a 38-6 halftime lead.

In the third quarter the Irish, exploded for 26 points, including a safety to start the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, with the Irish up 64-6, DeSales scored two more touchdowns to end the game, winning 80-6.

The Eagles' next game is at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, in Sunnyside against the Sunnyside Christian Knights.
