Rosalia Garden Club fights food insecurity

Garden club donates over 250 pounds of fresh produce in October

ROSALIA— The Rosalia Garden Club donated over 250 pounds of fresh produce from members’ gardens in October due to National Garden Clubs Inc. encouraging members to participate in fighting food insecurity.

In October, the club donated fresh food to the Rosalia and Malden food distribution center, and the donations were added to the U.S. total donations amounting to seven tons or over 14,000 pounds donated throughout the U.S. by the middle of September.

Rosalia Garden Club Publicity Chairman MaravaLee Peterschick reported that the Rosalia Garden Club is doing its part to represent the state of Washington in the National Garden Clubs, making a difference across America to fight food insecurity.

Peterschick said that club members will continue to plant America and feed America for the next two years.

Rosalia Garden Club will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 11:30 a.m. at the Rosalia Community Church, West 3rd Street.

The meeting will start with a dessert served by the hostess and Garden Club president, Carley Dube, and have guest speaker, Shirley Dicus, a member of Floral Art Designer and a Landscape Design Group located in Spokane.

Dicus will discuss “Fall Table Designs, incorporating lights and candles.”
