Rosalia to host annual Veterans Day Program

ROSALIA — The Rosalia Veterans Park is hosting its annual Veterans Day Program on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Veterans Memorial Park, located behind the Texaco Station Visitor Center on Whitman Avenue.

This year’s speaker is retired Private First Class (PFC) Tony Blount, who served in Vietnam with Delta Company, USMCP, and is a Purple Heart recipient.

Blount works regularly at the Malden, Rosalia, and Spangle food banks.

Pastor Mike Hill will give the invocation, and Bruce Henning will play taps during the program. Volunteer Sherry Hames said the rifle team would perform the three-shot volley at this year’s program.

Hames said her husband, Lee Hames, has helped VFW Commander Richard Matosh organize this year’s program.

Volunteer Lee Hames’s father, Ken Hames, helped organize and build the Veterans Memorial Park “with many other veterans and volunteers,” said Mrs. Hames.

Boy Scout Troop #588 and Scout leader Justin Fuchs are presenting the Flag Ceremony and will retire flags that can no longer fly.

“The Veteran’s Park is located behind the Texaco Visitors Station and is kept up in memory of our veterans by many volunteers,” said Mrs. Hames.
