Colfax Bulldogs take loss at the hands of Asotin Panthers

ASOTIN — The Colfax Bulldogs football team (1-7) headed down to Asotin to take on the Panthers (6-2).

In the game, the Bulldogs could not find their groove early, scoring only six points in the first half. For the Panthers, they put up 29 points before halftime, seemingly ending the game there.

The Panthers would go on to win the game 43-20.

The only score for the Bulldogs in the first half came in the second quarter as Ryker Reed caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Seth Lustig.

After halftime, the Bulldogs would trail 29-6, and came out in the third quarter to score no points, and allowed seven from Asotin.

At the start of the fourth quarter the Bulldogs trailed 36-6, but the fourth quarter was the best for Colfax.

The Bulldogs would score 14 points in the quarter, compared to seven from the Panthers. The touchdowns in the quarter for Colfax came from Reed, a 14-yard touchdown catch, and a three yard rushing touchdown from Lustig.

In the game, the Bulldogs converted 21 first downs compared to 17 from Asotin.

Colfax had 201 rushing yards in the game and 122 passing yards. The Panthers had 207 rushing yards and 135 passing yards.

The problem for the Bulldogs in the game was taking care of the football. Colfax threw two interceptions in the game compared to no turnovers from Asotin.

Tanner Senter had 95 rushing yards for the Bulldogs, and Reed added another 86.

On the receiving side, JP Wigen had three catches for 51 yards, and Reed had three catches for 33 yards and two touchdowns.

The next game of the season for the Bulldogs will take place Saturday, Oct. 28. The game will be played at Riverside high school against Northwest Christian (Colbert). Kick off is set for 6 p.m.
