POMEROY — After a day or racing at the District Nine 1B championship meet, the Colton Wildcats came out on top.
The meet was held in Pomeroy, and the race took place Wednesday, Oct. 18.
There were three teams at the meet, they were: Colton, St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse, and Yakama Nation Tribal.
For the girls race, there were four total runners. First place was taken by Rori Weber of Colton. She finished first overall with her race time of 24:25.70.
Second place was taken by Ayana Sampson of Yakama Nation Tribal, and Keira Maloney took third place for the Eagles with her race of 28:48.50.
On the boys side, there was a total of 13 runners. First place was taken by Tanner Baerlocher of Colton. His first place time was 17:31.30.
Second place in the meet was Colton’s freshman Wyatt Baysinger, who ran 20:34.10. Third place was Brennan Schlee of Colton, with a time of 20:53.40, and fourth place was also from Colton, where Ryan Impson ran a time of 21:09.10.
Loren Heitstuman would finish eighth for the Wildcats on the day, he ran a race of 22:01.20.
Eighth grader Jake Moehrle would finish 12th for Colton with his time of 24:32.10, and Joey Hemighaus rounded out the day for Colton with a run of 27:34.50.
For the Eagles, they had one boy runner in the district championship meet. William Tollett finished fifth for the Eagles with a run of 21:21.10.
The top runners from the boys and girls in the meet now move on to the 1B/2B Regionals meet. The meet will take place at Chewelah golf course on Friday, Oct. 27. The girls are set to start at 1:15 p.m., and the boys will race at 2 p.m.
