Colfax Police update public about Main Street theft

COLFAX — As of Monday, Nov. 20, the Colfax Police are still trying to determine who the suspect was in the theft of several construction items from a work trailer outside the Fonk’s building on Main Street the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 15, at approximately 3:34 a.m.

Colfax Chief of Police Bruce Blood said they are trying to identify a suspect seen on video footage near the trailer, and some are of him leaving, heading towards the getaway car in the alley near Tick Klock Drug carrying the stolen items.

Blood said the report was initially suspicious activity. Blood reported that when he showed up to investigate, he learned of the stolen items, including a rotary drip, a large laser leveler, two smaller laser levelers, a mini and small bosch laser level, and a bosch rotary hammer.

Blood said that the business owner and police started canvassing the neighborhood, going to different businesses to obtain video footage. “Some of the other video coverage across the street, we just got a shadow on the video,” he said, noting that on video behind Tick Klock, they got an image of someone dressed all in black carrying tools.

As of Monday, Nov. 20, Blood said they are waiting on footage from Umpqua Bank, which has to go through its corporate to send it.

“We have a picture of a possible suspect, but he’s all bundled up in Black,” Blood said Thursday, Nov. 16, noting that only the suspect’s eyes and nose are visible.

Blood said if anyone had any information, heard anything, or saw anything suspicious during the theft between 3:30 and 4 a.m., Wednesday morning, to call in to help identify the suspect.

“We have a line on the car, and we’re getting more video from another location, so we can possibly identify the car,” Blood said, noting that if anybody has any information that could help, they would appreciate it.
