Commissioners discuss Veterans Relief Fund

COLFAX — The Whitman County Board of Commissioners discussed the Veterans Relief Fund in the regular meeting on Monday, Nov. 20, during the workshop at 9 a.m.

Commissioner Art Swannack reported to the commissioner board that an issue they are currently trying to work out is where they are at on the veterans levy for the relief fund, which is now at the state’s minimum.

Swannack said it is state law to check the first Tuesday in September, and on that day, it had a balance bigger than what the income would be. “We’re not necessarily sitting with a need to lower it or something,” he said.
