COLFAX - After a fall sports season where the girls volleyball team finished third in state and the boys football team said goodbye to head coach Mike Morgan, the winter sports season is getting underway.
The girls basketball team will look to defend their state title from last season as they open up their 2023-24 season.
Their first game will be Thursday, Nov. 30. The Bulldogs will host Freeman with tip off set for 6 p.m.
The girls team will then play Monday, Dec. 4, against Warden. The game will be a home game and will start at 6 p.m.
Warden finished fourth in state last season, losing to Colfax in the semifinal game 66-53.
The Bulldogs are led by Brynn McGaughy. The junior will look to lead her team to the promised land once again. She most recently picked up an offer from Duke University, adding to her already impressive offer list.
On the boys side, the team will look to improve on their 17-7 overall record last season.
The Bulldogs open their season on Thursday, Nov. 30, against Freeman. They will play at 7:30 p.m., following the girls game.
The boys team then will host Warden with the girls, again playing on Monday, Dec. 4, with their game set to start at 7:30 p.m.
Colfax has a wrestling team that will open their season on Saturday, Dec. 2, an away meet for the boys team in Potlatch. The meet is set to start at 10 a.m.
The 17-7 overall record the Bulldogs had last season is the most losses the program had since the 2019-20 season. That season, the Bulldogs team went 19-8.
The Bulldogs will look to get back into the state tournament, where the Bulldogs have been absent since the 2021-22 season. Colfax fell just short of making it to state last season.
This season, the Bulldogs will be led by JP Wigen and Seth Lustig, who are sure to dominate.
