County 1B basketball season underway

WHITMAN COUNTY — The winter sports season is officially underway in Whitman County.

Tekoa-Rosalia, Oakesdale, Garfield-Palouse, Colton, and St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse all will have boys basketball teams this season.

The only school to not have girls basketball in 2023-24 is the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles. They had four girls show up on the first day and will not have a team.

For boys basketball, Oakesdale opens their season on Thursday, Nov. 30. They will host Moses Lake Christian Academy with tip off set for 6:30 p.m.

The Garfield-Palouse Vikings start their season on Saturday, Dec. 2, with a home game against Troy. The game will be played in Palouse and will start at 5 p.m.

Tekoa-Rosalia will have a game on Friday, Dec. 1. They will travel to Soap Lake, with their tip off set for 7:30 p.m.

The Timberwolves will play on Saturday, Dec. 2, against Columbia. The match will be played in Tekoa and start at 4 p.m.

The last game of the week for the Timberwolves will be on Tuesday, Dec 5. They will take on Chesterton with the game being played in Tekoa at 7:30 p.m.

The Colton Wildcats boys team start their season Friday, Dec. 1, against Highland. The game will be played in Highland and will start at 7:30 p.m.

The Wildcats will then have a game on Saturday, Dec. 2, against the Touchet Redhawks. The match will be played in Colton and will start at 2 p.m.

The Eagles boys basketball team does not have a game this week.

For girls basketball, the Oakesdale Nighthawks start their season Friday, Dec. 1, with a match against Cusick. The match will be played in Oakesdale, and is set to start at 6 p.m.

The girls will also have a game on Tuesday, Dec. 5, with a match against Odessa. The match will be in Odessa, and will start at 6 p.m.

The Vikings girls basketball team will start on Friday, Dec. 1, against Deary. The match will be played in Deary, and will start at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Vikings will host Troy. The match will be played in Palouse, and will start at 3:30 p.m.

The Timberwolves girls basketball season gets underway Friday, Dec 1. The game will be played against Soap Lake in Soap Lake, starting at 6 p.m.

Tekoa-Rosalia will then have a game on Tuesday, Dec. 5, against Chesterton. The match will be in Tekoa, and start at 6 p.m.

The Colton Wildcats girls basketball team open their season Friday, Dec. 1, against Highland. The game will be in Highland and will start at 6 p.m.

The Wildcats then will host their first home game of 2023 on Saturday, Dec. 2. The game will be against Touchet, and will start at 1 p.m.

On Monday, Dec. 4, the Wildcats will host Asotin. The game will start at 7:30 p.m.
