Palouse celebrates Christmas season

Palouse sees Santa, gingerbread building, and Christmas tree lighting

PALOUSE - Palouse has several Christmas events this weekend on Saturday, Dec. 16, with Santa coming through on a fire truck, a gingerbread building contest and more.

Palouse City Hall Deputy Clerk Jamie Gaber said that Santa will come on through town on a fire truck finishing at the community center at the noon bell.

"We're also having a gingerbread building contest with a children's category and an adult category," Gaber said, adding that the drop-off will be at the St. Elmo Building from noon to 2 p.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 17, Palouse is hosting a fundraiser event to support 5920 Vikotics with Holiday movies showing at the Palouse School Upper Gym building.

The Polar Express will show at 11:30 a.m., and The Grinch year 2000 will play at 3 p.m.

All ages are welcome, and there is a suggest donation for per person and families. The event will have free popcorn and drinks. Also made available for purchase are bake sale and other goodies.

There will be a drop 12-5 p.m. for griving in the lobby, by donation that will be available ithout movie tickets.

Gaber said the city is excited to have a Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 21.

"We intend to have refreshments, and we're going to invite people to carol with us on Dec. 21 at 6 p.m.," Gaber said.

Gaber noted that the craft night held on Saturday, Dec. 9 in the City community center also went well.

"They had a lot of terrific things," Gaber said, noting that they did their drawing.

Gaber said the city also has their native garden lit up with a light show as people drive in from Pullman, "It looks really pretty at night," she said.
