Longest winning streak to start season since 2011-12
COLFAX — The Colfax Bulldogs boys basketball team looked to continue their perfect start to the 2023-24 season with one home game and the first away game of the year in week two of the high school winter sport season.
The Bulldogs met the Clarkston Bantams on Thursday, Dec. 7. The game was played in Colfax.
The Bulldogs were 2-0 coming into the game, and the Bantams were 3-0. After a fiery start from three for Colfax, the team would cruise to a 61-42 victory, keeping their record perfect at home.
In the first quarter, Colfax would jump to a 10-6 lead, then push to a 16-9 lead before the quarter would end with the Bulldogs up 18-13.
In the first quarter alone, Adrik Jenkin would have a near-perfect quarter, scoring 14 points alone, out scoring the Bantams by himself.
The second quarter saw the Bulldogs take a 33-20 lead before the Bantams called a timeout early to regroup. The Bulldogs would take the 39-25 lead heading into the half time locker room.
Jenkin finished with 19 points in the first half and Jayce Kelly had four points in the first half.
Seth Lustig would score eight points in the second quarter and was the offensive spark in the later stages of the half.
The Bulldogs came out relaxed in the second half, they would hold Clarkston to just 17 points in the half as Colfax scored 22 points to take the 19-point victory.
The last game of the week for Colfax was played on Friday, Dec. 8. The game was played against the Mabton Vikings.
The Bulldogs jumped ahead from the beginning, and never looked back, winning the game 78-43.
With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 4-0 on the season, a perfect start to the season in their four non-conference matches.
With the conference schedule upon the Bulldogs, Colfax will now need to buckle down as they search for another perfect week of play.
The next game for the Bulldogs will be played on Friday, Dec. 15. The game will be in Asotin as the Bulldogs take on the Panthers. The boys game is set for 7:30 p.m., which will follow the girls game, who also take on Asotin, their game will start at 6 p.m.
