Sting operation gets dealer off streets

PULLMAN — Local man Justin Stringer, 30, of Pullman, was arrested and booked into the Whitman County Jail on Monday, Dec. 18, at Rosauers located at 1205 North Grand Avenue.

Stringer is booked on a $1,000 cash-only bail through Whitman County Superior Court and currently has two Felony Warrants (non-extraditable) out of Caldwell, Idaho.

“Over the last few months, I have created a Facebook profile to assist in furthering drug investigations. I have recently attended training and have prior experience in other drug investigations,” said the arresting Whitman County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Michael Jordan. “I have learned people commonly buy and sell drugs using applications online such as Facebook to communicate with each other.”

Jordan reportedly uses a Facebook profile he made of a female in the Pullman area to communicate with known drug dealers, users and associates in the area.

Reports say Jordan’s contact with Stringer began on Aug. 8, 2023.

“Most of the conversation was small talk,” said Jordan.

However, on Monday, Dec. 18, Stringer reportedly contacted Jordan’s Facebook profile, asking to hang out.

“I told Stringer that I was sick and needed to get well. This is a common phrase used by the drug community for an opiate user that is going through withdrawals. Getting well is using more drugs to make the withdrawals go away,” said Jordan.

Reports say Stringer told Jordan that he could help him get well, meaning he would provide drugs to curb the opiate withdrawals.

“I told Justin [Stringer] it was okay, and I was waiting on someone to bring me 20 pills. Justin told me he could meet me, and we could smoke his drugs while I wait for my pills to show up,” said Jordan. “I agreed and told Justin I lived behind Rosauers. Justin agreed to meet me at Rosauers and texted me once he was there.”

Reports say Jordan saw Stringer skateboarding from the Rosauers entrance.

“I recognized Justin from previous contacts,” he said.

Jordan placed Stringer under arrest for Attempted Delivery of a Controlled Substance.

After searching Stringer, Jordan located one Fentanyl pill from his front pants pocket on his right side.

“I also located a foil with burnt Fentanyl residue,” said Jordan. “Justin told me most of the way to Jail that this was all my fault and I am ruining people’s lives. Justin took no accountability for the choices he made. Justin did tell me he needed to go to treatment.”
