RITZVILLE – The local grocery store sold a $50,000 prize-winning lottery ticket in the Powerball drawing Dec. 13.
According to the Washington State Lottery, the winner turned in a winning Powerball ticket last week. The state Lottery Commission could not provide the name of the winner before deadline.
Lottery officials said the ticket was purchased at Akins Fresh Market, 610 W. First Ave.
The winner matched 4-of-5 white balls, plus the Powerball number in the drawing, lottery officials said, noting the odds of winning $50,000 is 1 in 913,000.
“There was a handful of $50,000 tickets sold in recent Powerballs,” lottery spokesman Dan Miller said. But the Ritzville ticket was the only winner in Eastern Washington.
Forty-five states offer Powerball as a legal lottery.
