TEKOA - The Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves earned two hard-fought victories over Whitman County district teams this week.
The Timberwolves defeated the Colton Wildcats at home, then took down the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles.
In between the games, Tekoa-Rosalia lost by 30 to the Pomeroy Pirates.
The first game of the week was against the Colton Wildcats. The game was played on Wednesday, Jan. 3, and took place in Rosalia.
Tekoa-Rosalia took a 27-15 lead to halftime, then surged for the 65-37 victory.
Vanden Allen led the way with a seven-point first quarter for the Timberwolves.
Isaac Bone started the first half slow, scoring just seven total points. He would explode in the second half, scoring 13 in the third, and nine in the fourth. Bone finished with 30 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.
The next game for Tekoa-Rosalia was against the Pomeroy Pirates. The game took place Friday, Jan. 5, and was played in Tekoa.
The Pirates scored 24 points in the first quarter while allowing Tekoa-Rosalia to score just nine to help secure the victory.
The Timberwolves answered with an 18-point second quarter, but trailed 27-34 heading into halftime.
Down seven, Tekoa-Rosalia were outscored 5-16 in the third quarter. The Timberwolves struggled to score after halftime, and the deficit was too much to overcome, despite their 14-point fourth quarter.
Bone finished the game with 23 points. Allen had seven, and Ziyon Marsh finished with six.
Following the Pomeroy loss, the Timberwolves ended their week with a match against the St. John-Endicott/LaCrosse Eagles.
The Timberwolves held the Eagles to nine points in the first half, which was helpful for Tekoa-Rosalia, as they were outscored by two in the second half, ending with a 49-37 victory for the Timberwolves.
At the end of the first quarter the Timberwolves were ahead 14-5. Bone scored 11 of the 14 Timberwolf first quarter points.
Tekoa-Rosalia would struggle in the second, scoring just nine points. Fortunately, the Timberwolves held the Eagles to four points to take a 23-9 first half lead.
During the third quarter the Eagles outscored Tekoa-Rosalia 16-14 to cut the deficit by two heading into the fourth.
The last quarter of play saw the Timberwolves and Eagles score 12 each, giving Tekoa-Rosalia the 12-point victory.
Bone finished with 25 points for the Timberwolves.
The next game for Tekoa-Rosalia will be Friday, Jan. 12, as they take on Colton. The game will be played in Rosalia, and will tip at 7:30 p.m.
