OAKESDALE - Oakesdale Nighthawks had a busy senior night, recognizing four basketball players and one wrestler.
Will Lanius, Logan Brown, Daxton Chappell, and Jaxon Eads were the basketball players, and Tristen Burd was recognized for wrestling.
All four of the basketball seniors have been vital to the success of the Nighthawks basketball team during the 2023-24 season. With just one regular season game left to play, Oakesdale are in a great spot for a district playoff berth, should they take down the Colton Wildcats in their last game, which will be played Friday, Feb. 2, in Colton.
Oakesdale have an 8-2 record in district play at the time of print, sitting tied for third-best with Sunnyside Christian and Liberty Christian. Both Sunnyside Christian and Liberty Christian will play each other on Friday, Feb. 2. If the Nighthawks win out, their place in the district playoffs is all but secure.
Oakesdale took down the Dayton Bulldogs comfortably on their senior night game, taking place Friday, Jan. 26, in Oakesdale.
The Nighthawks team prevailed early, and closed the game with exceptional defense on the way to a 70-26 victory over the Bulldogs.
The 44-point victory was their second-biggest victory of the season, and their 70 points scored was the second-most points the Nighthawks have scored in a game this season.
The game against Colton tips at 7:30 p.m.
