Lawmakers host virtual town hall meeting

Meeting will discuss six citizen initiatives

OLYMPIA- According to a press release from Monday, Feb. 5, Representatives Joe Schmick and Mary Dye are hosting a virtual town hall meeting on Thursday, Feb. 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. to provide an update on the 2024 legislative session.

Citizens are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and may also submit written questions during the registration process.

The town hall meeting will discuss issues, including six citizen initiatives before the legislature, including I-2117, to repeal the state's regressive carbon tax, and I-2124, which would allow workers to opt out of the Washington Cares program and payroll tax.

Other discussion topics will include affordability, the fentanyl drug problem, homelessness, and the lack of childcare services.

Also on the docket for discussion is whether the majority party will allow for any meaningful tax relief.

A remote event will be held on the Zoom platform, and interested participants are advised to preregister early at http://tinyurl.com/09-LD-Schmick-Dye due to limited space.

Those who register will receive a confirmation email to join the webinar.
