Tekoa hosts multiple events this weekend

Pot of Gold Shop Hop and Spring Carnival this weekend

TEKOA — The City of Tekoa is planning a thrilling weekend with the chance to shop antiques, and a kid’s carnival coming up on Saturday, March 16.

The Saturday will kick off with the Pot of Gold Shop Hop at 9 a.m. on March 16, a route that takes participants through towns across the Palouse to shop at antique and decor shops.

Shop Hop organizer Susie Creger said it is the third year they’ve done the event. “It’s very popular, and everyone has a good time,” she said.

Creger said that the event is designed to start from wherever participants live in the Palouse. “It’s a self-guided tour,” she said, noting that the shops will have deals and snacks.

“We have three different shops in Tekoa,” said Creger.

Tekoa stores include Homestead General Store, Vendor Market on the Palouse, Jaegers Angiques, and Bohara’s Craft Shed.

In Rockford, there is the Golden Gem and the Hurd Mercantile. Latah, participants can find The Red Barn.

Participants can stop by the Open Eye Consignment Shop and Linda’s Whimsey’s in Palouse and Spangle, Home: Lifestyle Gifts.

“It’s been highly successful in the past, and we just want to really highlight the Palouse as a scenic route and get people out to see what we have and what all the small towns can offer,” said Creger, adding that it’s fun and a great time of year to get out.

Also, the Healthy Tekoa Coalition is hosting its Spring Carnival on Saturday, March 16, from 1 to 3 p.m.

Tekoa Chamber of Commerce President Melinda Wilkins said the Healthy Tekoa Coalition collaborates with some businesses and nonprofits to host a carnival for kids.
