Washington State Baseball drops first PAC-12 series

PULLMAN — After starting the 2024 NCAA baseball season hot, the Washington State University (WSU) baseball team lost two-of-three against the Utah Utes.

The series was played Friday, March 8, through Sunday, March 10.

The lone win for WSU in the series was the opening game, where WSU earned the 7-1 victory.

In the game, starting pitcher Grant Taylor went six innings, allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts. He also walked four batters and hit one.

Offensively, WSU was led by Max Hartman, Kyle Russell, and Nate Swarts. All three had two hits and an RBI in the game.

The next game was played on Saturday, March 9, where WSU saw their early lead slip late as WSU lost 4-5.

Connor Wilford pitched 7.2 innings for WSU, allowing five runs on five hits with eight strikeouts.

Utah scored two runs in the seventh, and one in the eighth to claim victory.

The last game of the series Sunday, March 10, saw Utah earn another one-run victory, winning 7-6, taking the series from WSU.
