COLFAX — Whitman County District Court reported the following criminal conviction sentences from March 6- 15:
March 6
Gary S. Walter, was found guilty of knowingly possessing an illegal controlled substance and sentenced to a deferred sentence of 24 months, 180 days of jail, 180 suspended. Defendant must have no criminal violations of law, and supervised probation for 24 months, unsupervised for 12 months if all essential requirements of the sentence have been completed.Defendant shall meet with probation to discuss his current treatment plan. Defendant shall verify continued compliance. Defendant is ordered to not use or possess any illegal controlled substance and shall be subject to random UA testing.
March 15
Jovani V. Barrios-Peralta was found guilty of fourth-degree assault-domestic violence and sentenced to a deferred sentence for 24 months, 180 days of jail, suspended/deferred 179 days. Defendant must serve one day in jail, with credit for one day served. As a domestic violence conviction, the defendant shall have a biological sample collected for purpose of DNA identification. If the defendant has already had a biological sample collected, the collecting agency may choose not to collect another. The defendant shall pay to the clerk of the court a criminal conviction fee of $43, and a probation fee of $50 a month. The defendant must pay total financial obligations at $75 per month starting May, 5. Defendant has supervised probation for 24 months, which can be converted to unsupervised at one year if all other conditions herein are met under the conditions the defendant has no criminal violations of law or alcohol-related infractions. Defendant must attend a certified domestic violence evaluation and file a copy of the evaluation, and abide by the no contact order.
