Zachary Cooper had three 1st place finishes on the day
COLFAX - In the second track and field meet of the season for the Colfax Bulldogs, the boys' side excelled, taking third overall in the Hawk Invite.
The invite took place in College Place on Saturday, March 23.
The invite saw 14 boys teams and 13 girls teams compete. The overall boys winner was La Grande, who scored 162.5 team points. The Bulldogs took third with 82 team points.
On the girls' side, the overall winning team was La Grande as well, this time scoring 222 team points.
The Colfax girls team had a successful showing as well, scoring 52 team points, good for sixth place.
"Our coaches are very proud of our athletes and excited for the rest of the season. We continue to say put the work in now and when districts, regionals and state come around we will be in the mix," said Colfax head coach Jason Cooper.
Other awards given out at the meet went to Zachary Cooper of Colfax. He received the High Point "Athlete of The Meet" award after taking first in the 100 meter and 200 meter race, as well as a first place finish in the pole vault. He scored a total of 38 team points.
"I would say it's a true testament of the hard work he continues to put in each and every day, as all of our athletes do. We have a lot of season left and I look forward to our team putting down great marks," said Cooper.

Colfax improved drastically from their opening meet of the season in Lewiston for the Sweeney Invitational last week.
The team will now have a long period of no meets, partially due to spring break for the school, to prepare for the start of the league meets, which are just around the corner.
The next meet for the Bulldogs track and field team will be Wednesday, Apr. 10, at the NE 2B League Meet. The meet will be in Spangle, set to start at 3:30 p.m.
Also, upcoming for the track and field team is the MacDougall Invite, hosted by Colfax. The all-day meet will take place Saturday, Apr. 20. On Tuesday, Apr. 23, Colfax will host their own league meet as well.
