Tekoa softball routed

Struggled to string together key runs to deal damage

TEKOA — The Tekoa-Rosalia Timberwolves fell in two games against the top-ranked Inchelium Hornets, 21-2, 24-2.

Both games were played on Thursday, April 25, in Tekoa.

The Hornets came into the game with a perfect 15-0 record, they now sit atop the 1B softball state standings with a 17-0 record. They are also tied with Bonney Lake as the only two undefeated softball teams in the state of Washington.

Tekoa-Rosalia had just five hits in their first game, scoring their lone two runs. Inchelium had 23 total hits for 21 runs.

The second game of the series lasted four innings. The Hornets scored four runs in the first inning, 16 in the second inning and two in the third inning to cruise to a 19-run victory.

The Timberwolves scored two runs in both the third and fourth innings, but were unsuccessful in creating any real problems.

With the two losses, Tekoa-Rosalia are now 7-8 on the season.

After their hot start, the team is slipping slightly at the wrong time, as district playoffs are right around the corner.

The Timberwolves now have to wait along with the rest of Whitman County for district rankings and seedlings to come out for the softball playoff tournament.

The first round of District 9 softball is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, May 7, and run through Monday, May 13, with the district championship game being played at Mill Creek Complex, in Mill Creek.
