Katie Schmick passed away peacefully in Colfax, Washington on May 7, 2024. She lived a full life to the age of ninety-six. She was born in Corvallis, Oregon, on January 28, 1928. She grew up in Spokane and attended WSU. There she met her husband to be, Lloyd Schmick. They settled in on the farm outside of Colfax where they raised four children: Kirk (Debbie) of Spokane, Jim (Lyndi) of Seattle, Mary of Colfax, and Gary (Ann) of Elk. City girl Katie became a farm wife and mother every child should have. She was a room mother, Scout leader, Campfire Girls leader, 4-H helper, and taxi cab driver for all her kids' activities. She was very active in Athenaeum, United Way, bridge club and president of the church council at Peace Lutheran Church. She and Lloyd loved to attend WSU athletic events and traveled extensively. Her favorite personal activities were painting, golf and quilting.
In addition to her four children, she had ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd in 1995 and her sister, Shirley of Longview.
The family wishes to thank Hill Ray Plaza, Courtyard Assisted Living and Whitman Memorial Hospital for the love, care and companionship.
