Paul Andrew Schluneger, lifelong area resident, passed away May 8, 2024 at his Colfax home from cancer. He was 74.
Paul was born December 10, 1949 to John and Veronica "Joey" Schluneger in Colfax. He was one of seven children raised in the Onecho area. He attended Colfax High School, graduating in 1968. He attended one year at Yakima Valley College, before returning home to marry his high school sweetheart, Anna Therrien in 1969.
Paul was a self-employed semi-driver, hauling grain and fertilizer locally. His truck was the cleanest one with lots of shiny chrome!
He enjoyed racing snowmobiles and motorcycles for several years. He loved his jet boat on the Snake River. Paul provided his kids with "horsepower" when they asked for a horse! In the last few years, he enjoyed traveling in his motor home and exploring parks and trails on his side by side.
Paul is survived by his wife Anna, daughter Lori (Barry Folsom, Jr.), and son Travis (Jessi Bo); 8 grandchildren, Dallas Schluneger, Brooklyn, Wyatt and Kennedy Schmidt, Chase (Brooke) Schluneger, Blake, Wyatt, and J.J. Bodey; by 2 great-granddaughters, Paisley and Oaklynn. He is also survived by brothers Chris and Joe, and sisters Ann Margaret, Audrey, Susan and Tressa. Also surviving are his many close friends whom he considered to be family.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held July 12th at the Colfax Golf Course. The family suggests memorial gifts be made to the Colfax EMT's or to the Whitman Community Hospital.
