Pullman honors teacher

PULLMAN — The Pullman Board of Directors awarded the Dedicated Teacher Award for the year 2024 to Heather Strader during their Wednesday, May 8, meeting.

Franklin Elementary Principal, Stephanie Bray nominated Strader who is currently a second grade teacher at the school. “When I first started at Franklin, she was Kindergarten and she moved to second grade,” Bray said during the meeting.

Bray read some of the letter for her recommendation stating that Strader is pivotal at Franklin, and is not only a member of the district but on several teams, and a member of multiple boards. “She provides professional development to our staff,” Bray said.

“I would say that people look to Heather as a leader, someone that they can trust,” Bray said, adding that Strader builds a relationship with students and staff and is involved in their problem solving committee. “We are so lucky to have Heather,” she added.

Bray said that Strader is one of the most dedicated staff members that she has ever come into contact with. “She is amazing with our students,” she said, “She succeeds in improving the lives of our students.”

According to Bray, Strader creates an atmosphere of trust, caring, understanding and provides instruction exceptionally. “Her students, above all, feel safe and protected,” Bray said.
