Miss state playoffs with loss Friday to Asotin Panthers

COLFAX - After making the state tournament last season, the Colfax Bulldogs failed to qualify in the 2023-24 season.

The team was knocked out of the district tournament Friday, May 17, with a 13-10 loss to the Asotin Panthers.

The game was played at Dwight Merkel Complex in Spokane.

Asotin had 12 hits in the game with nine errors, where as Colfax had just nine hits with three errors.

Colfax would score eight total runs in the first three innings, leading by three. Asotin would answer with a six-run sixth inning to take a four-run lead heading to the final inning, where Colfax scored just one run to lose 13-10.

Gracie Bofto threw 153 pitches for Colfax. She allowed 13 runs, six earned, on 12 hits with nine walks. She would strikeout six batters.

Offensively, Keilena Nelson hit a two-run home-run in the third inning. She finished with two hits and RBIs.

Harley Hennigar had one hit with two RBIs in the game as well.

Colfax watched their season end with the loss to Asotin. They finished with an overall record of 14-10.

Colfax will graduate three seniors: Nelson, Hennigar, and Ella Jones, and are looking to regroup next season to get back to the state playoffs.

Nelson will move on to play softball at Columbia Basin College, and Hennigar is off to participate in Rodeo at Blue Mountain College.
