Class of 2024 ceremonies slated

County high school seniors prepare to graduate

COLFAX — High School seniors across the county are gearing up for the end of their high school careers and looking towards their future with graduation approaching.

Four schools are preparing for their graduation ceremonies at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 1, including Colfax, Colton, Garfield-Palouse, and Oakesdale.

Both Colton and Colfax will host their graduation ceremonies in the gymnasium, with Colton in their big gym.

“This class is a group of strong willed individuals, who as they leave us are going to be able to conquer whatever obstacles they may encounter,” said Colfax Principal David Gibb of the class of 2024.

Gibb said that the seniors will do their drive through town after graduation.

The route for this year’s senior drive will start at the school, going down East 3rd Street and North Clay Street passing Four Star Supply and down North Mill Street. The seniors will turn on East Canyon Street, and right on Main before turning by Zips at East 1st Street to go right on North Morton Street back to the school.

“If anyone wants to step out and wave with them as they drive by,” Gibb said, “We will be done by noon, so everyone can walk out on their porches by then.”

The Garfield-Palouse ceremony will be held in the gym.

Oakesdale Principal and Superintendent, Jake Dingman said that the senior graduation ceremony will take place on the football field this year as long as the weather is permitting, adding that they’d move to the gym if it rains.

“This group is full of personality and a lot of fun, and they’ll do big things,” Dingman said of the graduating seniors.

LaCrosse will hold their ceremony in the school gymnasium.

Superintendent Jordan Jennings said that he is very proud of this senior class. According to Jennings they are hard working, and dedicated.

“I know if they put their hard work into any of their endeavors, they will succeed,” Jennings said, “I encourage them to keep taking risks, try new things, and stay true to their good character. Congratulations and good luck.”

St. John-Endicott will hold a ceremony for graduating seniors at 2 p.m., on Sunday, June 2, at the St. John High School.

Rosalia and Tekoa High Schools will hold their ceremonies at 2 p.m., on Saturday, June 8, in the school’s gymnasiums.
