Linda Jean Mount

April 28, 1954 - Nov. 28, 2023

Our beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, Linda Hames Mount, went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 28, 2023. She died from the complications of colon cancer.

Linda was born to Ken and Veva Jean Hames April 28, 1954. She was raised in Rosalia, Wash. As a young girl, Linda was very active in 4-H. She raised lambs for the Palouse Empire Fair in Colfax as well as entered many sewing projects, canned goods and baked goods. In high school Linda participated in choir, FHA and Drama as well as many other clubs and organizations. Following high school she attended EWSC in Cheney. While there she studied Home Economics. In her second year, she met David Mount while participation ROTC. They were married June 22, 1974, at the Rosalia Methodist Church. At that time Dave was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army and they were immediately transferred to Germany for three years with subsequent transfers to Kentucky, Alaska, Kansas, Tennessee, and Moscow, Idaho. Linda was the consummate Officer's wife. She could pull together a party on short notice, decorate the officer's club, teach numerous different classes to other wives and kept herself busy with crafts. She was an avid woodworker and sold her creations at craft shows where ever she lived. Linda enjoyed quilting as well as selling Tupperware and Longaberger Baskets. She was particularly proud of the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion awards from the Arkansas Valley Fair for her quilting, scrapbooking and canning.

Linda and Dave were blessed with two children. Matthew, born in March of 1980 and Kara in October of 1981, both born while stationed in Alaska.

When Dave retired from the Army, he found work in La Junta, Colorado, where they have lived since 1994. Linda soon started working at the local Walmart. She kept this job until March of 2020. Throughout her life she was an avid gardener and could grow anything. Her latest obsession was genealogy. She spent hours in the LDS computer room in La Junta tracing both sides of her family tree.

Linda is survived by her husband, David, in La Junta, Colo., son, Matthew (Katie) Mount, Denver, Colo., daughter, Kara (Stephen) Hayden, Las Vegas, Nev .; grandchildren, Ava and Harlow Mount, Michael and Lydia Hayden and Jacob and Paisley Easter.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Rosalia IOOF Cemetery at 10 a.m.
