Wind Turbines

I’m not necessarily against wind turbines, I’m against the horrible placement of them around Kamiak Butte and so many residences, one of them being mine. Mary Dupree, I don’t want a 699-foot-tall wind turbine in my back yard; or in anyone’s yard. Do you want one? If so, please call Harvest Hills and ask for a piece of the government subsidized pie you find so heroic. While I worry about the animals they will affect, I worry more about the health and financial repercussions of having these located so close to our homes. The setbacks are ridiculously short. The turbines infrasound, light flickers, and fire hazard are concerning. If one catches on fire our houses are gone.

Harvest Hills made a lot of promises, making people believe they are creating hundreds of jobs, when those jobs have already been created. They won’t hire local construction people to build these things…you must have experience. 3 years ago, they asked to run power through our property. We told them to leave, and not come back. We never thought other landowners would sign up for this. Stewards of the land. Not anymore. Wind turbines have a relatively small life span (20 years, maybe) and the land will be destroyed forever after. Gone. A small blip in time to line the pockets of a dozen landowners. The money isn’t great for the community when you compare it to all the revenue that photography alone brings in, and that will be lost. Please do your research. Look at the economic and scientific reports rather than the propaganda the wind companies spew.
