Another Snake River Family Festival in the books

Festival sees largest crowd in years

COLFAX - The Port of Whitman County held its annual Snake River Family Festival Saturday, June 8, boasting the biggest crowd they have ever seen, according to Port Commissioners Karl Webber and Tom Kammerzell.

Despite an extremely hot day, residents of Whitman County gathered at the river to explore multiple booths hosted by local companies.

"Wildly fantastic day," said Kammerzell, adding that it really means something when so many people show up because they had to travel down to the river for the event.

Many booths were giving out free gear, and Nancy Ruark could be seen making handmade rope with an old-fashioned rope maker.

At the McGregor booth, McGregor Bookkeeper Valerie Siler could be seen handing out succulents she was preparing for interested attendees. "We give them out at the fair every year too," she said.

The Wasteland Kings, an Americana band, could be seen playing music and inbetween exploring the booth attendees enjoyed the river.
