Palouse Pool schedule

The season is set for June 14 through Aug. 17

PALOUSE — The summer season is here and along with it comes the fun-filled days at the local swimming pool.

The Palouse announced its 2024 schedule, beginning Friday, June 14, and running through Saturday, Aug. 17. The schedule is subject to change.

Daily schedule

On Monday through Friday, swim lessons will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Session one will be July 15-18, 22-24 and 26. Session two will be July 29-Aug. 8 on Monday through Thursday only.

Swim team practice will be from noon to 1 p.m .; open swim 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m .; lap swim and water aerobics 5 p.m. to 6 p.m .; another open swim 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Saturday and Sunday, open swims will be held 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lap swim will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Swim lessons

Registration will start Monday, June 17. There is a different cost for Palouse residents and non-residents. To register, either go to City Hall at 120 E. Main Street or call 878-1811

There will be eight half-hour lessons and will be on the half-hour between 10 a.m. and noon. Students must be a minimum age of 4 by the first day of class. Cancellations due to weather will be made up on Fridays, if possible.

Private lessons are available. There is a cost for 30 minutes and lessons are based on instructor availability. Arrangements can be made with the pool manager.

Swim team

The Palouse swim team will begin weekly practice on Monday, June 17. There are no tryouts to be on the team. There is a cost and the swimmer and must be from 8 to 18 years old.

To compete at swim meets, the participant must be able to swim 25 yards of any stroke if the swimmer is 10 years and under or 50 yards of any stroke if 11 and older.

Swim meets begin July 9 and go through the last week of July. There will be three swim meets in Palouse this year. The county championship meet is in Palouse on Aug. 3.

Private rentals

To reserve a spot, pay at City Hall. Rentals are one-and-a-half hours long and can be made from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on weekdays or 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekends.

Lifeguards are provided. There is a cost and a 40-guest maximum. Guests include everyone within the facility.
