Case VAR-24-02 involves a request by Deb and Mike Alperin to reduce the number of required parking stalls from 6 to 4 for a duplex on the property at 1305 NE Hillside Drive/1630 NE Wheatland Drive. The structure was damaged by fire in 2023, and sustained damages exceeding 100% of the value of the structure. Pullman City Code 17.30.030(5)(c) “If any nonconforming residential structure located in a residential zone is destroyed or sustains damages up to one hundred (100) percent of its value, the structure may be reconstructed having the same zoning nonconformities, but no more than as existed before the damage occurred; provided, however, parking shall conform to the requirements of the Zoning Code in existence at the time of application for a building permit to repair or replace the damaged structure.”

All interested persons or their authorized agents are encouraged to appear at the public hearing and testify for or against the proposal. Interested parties may also submit written comments regarding this application to the Community Development Department at City Hall prior to the public hearing. Please be advised that oral comments at the hearing may be subject to a time limit. At the public hearing, the Hearing Examiner will accept testimony on the proposal and then the matter will be closed for public input. Within 10 days of the public hearing, the Hearing Examiner will decide to approve, approve subject to conditions, or deny the applicant’s request. The decision will be made available to the public via the City website.

Pertinent documents related to this case are available for public review at the Community Development Department at City Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
