Business bingo shares facts about local businesses
COLFAX - Chamber members, business owners and residents gathered at the Cellar to network for the June Colfax Chamber of Commerce mixer on Thursday, June 13.
The event started out with people trickling into the Cellar, grabbing a drink and gathering a plate food from the tables while mingling.
"It's a good event. Different people here than the last one," said Chamber President Gary Young.
Before a game of business Bingo kicked off, Young thanked all those who attended for being there and listed future events that the Chamber would present.
Young said that their next event would be a luncheon in August, sponsored by The Eagles, with a speaker to be determined.
The Cellar owner Kimberly DeHart took the floor thanking everyone for being there and encouraging them to have more food before starting the game of business bingo.
Bingo cards that were handed out with a wine top stamp and ink pad, stated facts about businesses in Colfax that were guessed as the game went on.
DeHart stated that Chamber Executive Director Katrina Johnson collected all the facts before the event.
It was determined that the bingo winner would get a "C." Several hands raised to determine what fact went with what business and once guessed right attendees could stamp off a corner.
The first two bingo winners won prizes. The first bingo winner was Anne McCrae, winning a champagne plug and spoon and the second Chamber Vice President Jennifer McCully.
DeHart stated that the purpose of the business bingo was to encourage everyone to network, and really learn about the businesses within Colfax. "Next time you drive downtown, look around to see what business are here," she said.
"I think it went really well. People seemed to enjoy Bingo. People learned a lot about businesses within chamber members," said Johnson at the end of the event.
DeHart agreed, stating that she thought the event was great. "I appreciate everyone coming, and it's just an example of events that can be put on at the Cellar," she said.
