Slippery Gulch fishing derby results posted

TEKOA — The annual festivities for Battle Days kicked off early on Monday, June 10, with the annual children’s fishing derby.

This year, 49 children cast their lines into Hangman Creek, hoping to catch a fish. The ages for those competing ranged from 0-12 years old. Here are the results: 0-3 years old, 1st Karly Johnson, 2nd Max Moore, 3rd Beau Fink; 4-6 years old, 1st Kylie Johnson, 2nd Walker Sperber, 3rd Kate Blank; 7-9 years old, 1st Luna Hay, 2nd Sydney Monroy, 3rd Ivy Sczenski; 10-12 years old, 1st Reyson Ramirez, 2nd Bridger Boyles, 3rd Dulce Bernal.

This year’s largest fish was caught by Luna Hay, with a fish measuring 14.5 inches.

The smallest fish award went to Teagan Allen and the Parent-Child Pair award went to Jessica and Sydney Monroy.

A raffle was also drawn to award one boy and girl a brand new bike. This year’s winners were Roy Brown and Hazel Smith.
