4th of July events next week

Firework shows, family fun and balloon rides

COLFAX - With the Fourth of July coming up next week, Whitman County residents are looking forward to several fireworks displays for the family across the county.

Boyer Park and Marina will host their 4th of July Music and Fireworks Extravaganza from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 1753 Granite Road.

Live music will be performed by Eric E. At 9:45 p.m., the fireworks display by Rocketman Pyro will begin.

ALBION — The annual parade and festivities in observance of the 4th of July will take place in observance of the holiday, Wednesday, July 4 at noon.

Line-up for the parade will start at 11:30 a.m.

The parade will take place from noon until 2 p.m. and will feature the Cathy McMorris Rodgers team in this year’s parade celebrations.

PULLMAN - The annual Sunnyside Park fireworks show will start at 5 p.m. on July 4, featuring live music from Community Band of the Palouse, Dan Maher and DJ Goldfinger.

Pullman radio stations will be broadcasting the Fourth of July program on Hit Radio 104.7 and New Country 104.3.

Timber of the Lumberyard will be back this year to serve hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken wraps and salads.

Part of the proceeds will go toward the fireworks fund and will replace the annual barbecue. There will be cotton candy and Coke products available for purchase onsite.

An ATM will not be available, so attendees are encouraged to plan for meals and beverage needs. Most cards will be accepted at Timber and for the purchase of merchandise.

There are no barbecue briquettes allowed in the park.

Attendees are invited to bring blankets, chairs, and what they need to enjoy the music and fireworks.

Organizers strongly recommend utilizing Pullman Transit to get to and from Sunnyside Park, special routes will run beginning at 4:30 p.m., until after the display and there is no charge to ride. If attendees choose to drive, they are told to follow all traffic signs and park only in designated spots.

Parking lots inside the park will be utilized for handicapped access only, and parking near Sunnyside may be limited.

The event is community-funded for the entertainment and fireworks display is raised through donations made to the Pullman Chamber of Commerce by community members and businesses.

No alcohol, marijuana drug products, or pets are allowed in Sunnyside Park and smoking is permitted in designated areas only.

Endicott - In Endicott, the library is hosting Captain Crystal and the Dream Catcher Balloon.

Families will get the chance to take tethered hot air balloon rides from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Endicott Gun Club, 13542 Endicott Road.

There will be two seats, with harness in place of basket and veterans and children in wheelchairs can ride for free. Other rides cost a suggested donation of $25.

The Endicott pool will open at 2 p.m. on July 4, and vendors will be set up near the concession stand.

The event will feature music from 4 p.m. to when it gets dark, and starting at 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Hot air balloon rides will start, snow-cones will be available, face painting and lawn games. A pie shack will be available during this time.

The kiddie parade will lineup at 5:45 p.m. to start at 6 p.m. and at 7 p.m. an ice cream social will be held at the concession stand.

The main parade will line up at the gun club at 6:30 p.m. to start at 7 p.m. At dark night glow hot air balloons will be made available and the fire works will start.

Washtucna - A 4th of July celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sonny's Tavern and Bassett Park on Wednesday, July 4, 250 Main Street.

A parade, picnic at the Park and a Horseshoe Tournament will take place at the Tavern.

JOHNSON - The town of Johnson, located 11 miles south of Pullman on the Genesee branch of the Northern Pacific hosts a parade every year on the 4th of July.
