Bluegrass band to grace the barn on June 29
UNIONTOWN – The Artisans at the Dahmen Bars will be hosting the next performance in their summer concert series on Saturday, June 29.
Bluegrass fans will be thrilled as Custer’s Grass Band will grace the stage with a performance from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dahmen Barn. Doors are set to open at 6 p.m., with food and drinks available for purchase.
Custer’s Grass Band was formed in 1976, and is attributed to be the first band to record a bluegrass album in the Pacific Northwest. The album featured Grammy award winning fiddler Mark O’Connor. Since their formation, Custer’s Grass Band has appeared in dozens of festivals, music venues and colleges across the Pacific Northwest.
The group entertains audiences with a mix of original music, rounded with the “high lonesome” classic bluegrass sound.
In 2019, the group incorporated a tribute segment featuring the music of Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. In the mid-1960s, the duo, along with their group “The Foggy Mountain Boys” were credited with helping bluegrass flourish and reach new ears internationally. The group had put out many television and movie soundtracks, like “The Beverly Hillbillies” theme. The tribute segment includes many arrangements of songs from Flat and Scruggs, along with “The Foggy Bottom Boys”.
There is a cost to attend, and tickets are available only at the door.
The Dahmen Barn is located at 419 N Pkwy, Uniontown, Wash., and can be reached at 509-229-4314 for more information on the concert.
