Summer Dayz Car Show is back this weekend

Third annual Summer Dayz Car Show

ST.JOHN - St. John Auto Body & Custom is bringing back the 3rd annual Summer Dayz Car Show Event at 9 a.m., Saturday, June 29.

Everyone is invited to attend the festivities on the day, with registration for the car show opening at 8 a.m.

Visitors can wander the show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Over 40 vehicles have pre-registered for the car show and Mike Thomas, owner of St. John Auto Body & Custom and Summer Dayz event organizer expects the show to be at full capacity.

"First year, we had 56 cars; last year, we grew to 82 cars. We have room for 110-120. We already have half of that pre-registered. I expect us to be at capacity," said Thomas.

Awards for vehicles featured in the car show will be presented at 2:30 p.m.

Front Street will close for the day and reopen at 3 p.m.

On that day, there will also be the Poker Walk with local businesses, a swim team breakfast fundraiser, a community-wide yard sale, and the Booster Club triathlon.

The community-wide yard sale begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until 2 p.m. Maps can be picked up around town.

The breakfast fundraiser will be replaced by a hotdog lunch fundraiser, which will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fundraisers will be next to registration on Front Street.

The Poker Walk kicks off at 9 a.m. for participants of all ages. A form will be handed out that must be handed to participating businesses for someone to receive a playing card.

The person with the best and worst poker hands wins a prize. Those with bad cards can try their luck by drawing a new card for a small donation.

In addition, a 50/50 raffle will be held to draw funds for a local group in town.

The Booster Club will also have a beer garden on the day.

"I have always enjoyed car shows. I am a car guy. You might meet some people you wouldn't normally meet, and you may meet a lot of lifelong friends. It's a really fun day and every year we try to bring on something new and extra," said Thomas.
