Frances A. West

Funeral services for Frances A. West, age 96, were be held Monday July 1, 2024, at the Palouse Federated Church at 2 p.m., with Reverend Corey Laughary officiating at the service. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Frances passed away June 22, 2024, at Regency Assisted Living in Pullman, Washington.

She was born June 16, 1928, in Grangeville, Idaho, to Thomas and Anna (Payne) Simon. Her family moved to Palouse when she was three years old. She attended schools in Palouse and graduated from Palouse High School in 1946. Frances married Robert West on September 21, 1947, at Palouse and the couple made their home in Palouse.

Frances was employed at W.S.U. from 1973 – 1990 as a library specialist at the Holland Library in Pullman. Her husband Robert operated West Food Store in Palouse.

Frances was a member of the Palouse Federated Church.

Survivors include her son, Dale West (Leilani) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; two daughters, Sharon West of Kettle Falls, Wash., and Nancy Gonzales of Orcutt, Calif .; and a sister, Anabelle Syms of Pullman, Wash .; 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2011, and two sisters, Nellie Wolfe and Jean Ascomb.
