NOTICE is hereby given that the Pullman Hearing Examiner will hold a public hearing on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. to consider Conditional Use Permit Application CUP-24-01. Case SMP-24-01 involves a request by Parks & Facilities Director Kurt Dahmen, on behalf of the City of Pullman, to construct pickleball courts, fencing, and lighting within the defined shoreline area of the South Fork of the Palouse River at the City Playfields located at 820 SE South Street. This shoreline conditional use permit application contains a variance to allow for the proposed construction to occur within the required setback of 50 feet from the ordinary high water mark of the South Fork of the Palouse River.

The subject property is located in an R2 Low Density Multi-Family Residential, with a Shoreline “Parks” designation. General recreation is a conditional use in the Shoreline Parks.

All interested persons or their authorized agents are encouraged to appear at the public hearing and testify for or against the proposal. Interested parties may also submit written comments regarding this application to the Community Development Department at City Hall prior to the public hearing. Please be advised that oral comments at the hearing may be subject to a time limit. At the public hearing, the Hearing Examiner will accept testimony on the proposal and then the matter will be closed for public input. Within 10 days of the public hearing, the Hearing Examiner will decide to approve, approve subject to conditions, or deny the applicant’s request. The decision will be made available to the public via the City website.

Pertinent documents related to this case are available for public review at the Community Development Department at City Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Pullman City Hall is accessible for persons with disabilities; please inform the Community Development Department if you will need any special accommodations to attend the meeting.
