Sept. 28, 1951 - June 12, 2024
Diana Kay (Cochran) Braun, born in Colfax, Washington, September 28, 1951, to Fayne and Louise Cochran. She passed away on June 12th, 2024, after a battle with pancreatic cancer in Redmond, Washington, at the age of 72.
Diana grew up on the family farm located north of Colfax with her three siblings. She attended Colfax High School graduating in 1970. Following high school she attended Washington State University for two years before completing her degree at Kinman Business University in Spokane, Wash. She married Russell Braun of Colfax on September 12, 1973. The two moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., while Russell was in the Army. Following Russell's honorable discharge the two made their home in Moscow, Idaho, while Russell obtained his degree from University of Idaho. They welcomed a son, Chad, and Diana became a stay at home mom. After Russell's graduation they made their way to western Washington and welcomed a second son Mark, settling later in Redmond, Wash.
Diana spent most of her 40's battling breast and ovarian cancers, but came out the other side a survivor. In the middle of her health battles she became an avid walker as it helped her mental and physical wellbeing, walking several miles a day regularly. She completed many races in her lifetime where the goal was not to compete but complete the race, most recently the Rock 'n Roll half marathon in Phoenix, Ariz., in January 2024.
Every summer she would make her way back to the farm for harvest and help take care of the home-place. She enjoyed her time back on the farm and would always consider it a piece of her. She kept busy by volunteering for a local elementary school within walking distance from her home in Redmond and was always up for a trip to visit her children and grandchildren.
Diana is survived by her husband of 50 years Russell Braun of Redmond, Wash .; her two sons Chad (Shaunta) Braun of Peoria, Ariz., and Mark (Judy) Braun of Fremont, Calif .; her grandchildren, Arya, Neel, Sam and Max; siblings, Linda (Ken) Riley of Colorado Springs, Colo., Larry (Sandi) Cochran of Colfax, Wash., and Terry (Nancy) Cochran of Colfax, Wash .; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Fayne and Louise Cochran.
